Surgical Technologist / LVN/LPN

Schedule

This position operates on a 5 days, 8 hours shift from 06:30 to 15:00. Weekend requirements include 1-2 24-hour on-call shifts per schedule.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist / LVN/LPN performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic techniques and monitoring situations during surgical procedures, providing support and comfort to patients, and preparing the operating room with necessary instruments and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of patient care and support in the operating room.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery by performing skin preparations as per hospital standards.
• Transport patients to and from the operating room.
• Identify and care for biological specimens during surgery.
• Scrub in for specialty surgeries including Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, and Neurology.
• Ensure the operating room preference cards are up to date.
• Adhere to universal precautions and maintain a safe surgical environment.
• Demonstrate expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies and instruments.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• BLS certification from AHA is required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN license is required.
• 2 or more years of experience in surgical technology is preferred.
