Job Description
The Occupational Therapist will effectively screen and evaluate patients with cognitive and/or Activities of Daily Living (ADL) physical functioning disorders, developing appropriate plans of care in accordance with all regulatory and clinical practice standards. The therapist will utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
Responsibilities
- Provide rehabilitative and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or ADL physical functioning disorders.
- Administer various procedures as part of the rehabilitation plan, including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
- Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly in compliance with regulatory and clinical practice requirements.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes for effectiveness and modify services based on patient evaluations.
- Consult and counsel patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding physical disorders.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and health team members about patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
- Provide comprehensive discharge summaries of services rendered in adherence to regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Document all required information accurately in the electronic documentation system and maintain patient records according to company policy.
- Participate in required meetings including patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings.
- Supervise and support occupational therapist assistants, rehabilitation aides, and/or students.
- Adhere to NBCOT and state-required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.
Schedule
This is a Days shift of 8 hours per day.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 1+ years of Occupational Therapy experience is required.
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation is required.
- An active Occupational Therapy license is required at the time of submission.
- New graduates are considered only with Level II fieldwork experience.
