Registered Nurse - Perinatal Care
Schedule
This position will follow a 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM schedule, including every 3rd weekend.
Job Description
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. This role involves providing both routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals or plans. The Nurse will work towards managing contingencies of clinical nursing effectively and will make appropriate assignments and delegate responsibilities to other care providers to manage the clinical situation efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Consistently meet expectations of the applicable One CHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
- RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required.
- Current certification from NCC in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or one of the following AWHONN courses: Intermediate FHM.
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
- Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
- Perinatal RN Residency or recently practicing in a Perinatal setting is preferred.
