This is a day shift position from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, requiring 40 hours per week. This is a backfill position.

Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for providing immobilization devices, operating nuclear medicine equipment, and ensuring that radio images are of diagnostic value. The technologist will conduct radionuclide procedures, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, and maintain compliance with all radiation protection guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate radio images using the PACS System for proper identification and diagnostic value.
• Provide radiation protection for self and the patient according to prescribed safety standards.
• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
• Perform organ imaging, function studies, and assist in therapeutic procedures involving radioisotopes under safety conditions.
• Calibrate equipment and assay radionuclides.
• Maintain records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal as per regulations.
• Ensure cleanliness and contamination-free conditions of work areas.
• Adhere to all NRC, State, and JCAHO guidelines.
• Complete daily clerical duties including scheduling and patient processing in various systems.
• Coordinate with patients and caregivers for effective communication and care delivery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a busy hospital setting.
• Valid NJDEP license required.
• ARRT or NMTCB registry is required.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association is required.
• Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
