Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist for the Cardiology department. The technologist will prepare and inject radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and departmental policies. The role involves measuring concentrations of radioactive isotopes to assist Radiologists in diagnosing patient illnesses and performing various cardiac nuclear studies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and inject radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging.
• Measure radioactive isotope concentrations in specific body areas.
• Perform cardiac nuclear studies including stress MUGA, Thallium, and non-gated Technetium studies.
• Assist physicians with procedures as necessary.
• Provide reports to physicians for review and interpretation.
• Program computer systems for each procedure and document test reasons and allergies.
• Employ proper aseptic techniques for IV insertion and administration.
• Manage nuclear schedule for optimal time usage and patient flow.
• Conduct daily/weekly quality assurance and calibration procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report others as needed.
• Perform departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation standards.
• Follow procedures for contamination and decontamination when necessary.
• Order and log radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper disposal.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• IV Certification required.
• ARRT certification required.
• CNMT certification required.
