Surgical Technologist I

This position is a Days shift from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM, consisting of 4 days of 8-hour shifts followed by 5 days of 8-hour shifts, with a 32-hour guarantee.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist I is responsible for performing a variety of tasks during surgical procedures, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are available and in working order. This role requires a solid understanding of surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout each procedure.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and assists in problem-solving related to those procedures.
• Verifies items according to the physician preference card and maintains accountability for supplies to ensure accurate patient billing.
• Demonstrates proper equipment use, assembling, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments required for surgical procedures.
• Maintains and monitors the sterile environment and recognizes breaks in technique.
• Sets up the sterile field with instruments in a timely manner and keeps accurate accounts of all medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps on the sterile field per policy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 3+ years of Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) experience.
• Experience with Orthopedic, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN, Ophthalmic, and Urology procedures.
• Proficient with C-Sections.
• Travel experience is preferred.
• Skills Checklist relevant to the Operating Room, current within the last year.
• Two Supervisory Reference Forms completed within the last two years.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Active NBSTSA Certification.
