Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs quality control measures on nuclear medicine equipment and devices, including troubleshooting and maintenance. Responsible for ensuring quality management programs for all procedures, conferring with physicians to determine appropriate procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control and maintenance on nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Document laboratory operations, including the receipt and disposition of radioactive materials.
  • Exercise judgment in the performance of scheduled examinations and procedures.
  • Identify ways to improve work processes and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Provide clinical instructions for Radiology students and residents.
  • Stay informed of the latest developments in the nuclear medicine field.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, physicians, and patients.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Minimum of 24 months current Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience.
  • Active permanent or temporary Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from the Texas Medical Board.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Nuclear Medicine (N) or CNMT within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to administer intramuscular and intravenous injections and start intravenous lines.
  • Basic knowledge of nuclear medicine therapeutic treatments and EKG for cardiac studies.
