Level II Registered Nurse - Neurosurgery Stepdown Unit

Schedule includes rotating shifts covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Level II Registered Nurse to provide competent care in the Neurosurgery Stepdown Unit. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care and supporting clinical practices through service excellence, professional development, research, and evidence-based practices. You may also take on roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member, contributing to the overall success of the unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide high acuity nursing care for patients recovering from neurosurgery and stroke interventions.
• Perform neuro checks and manage EVDs, lumbar drains, and subdural drains.
• Administer medications, including 3% NS and Cardene drips, and manage arterial lines.
• Support patients post-cardiac procedures such as carotid endarterectomy and DBS insertion.
• Monitor and manage seizures and provide appropriate intervention.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Two (2) years of experience in a Stepdown or PCU setting is required.
• New York RN License (required).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required).
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (required).
• Telemetry experience is required.
• NIHSS certification is preferred.
