Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist plays a critical role in evaluating patient outcomes and making necessary adjustments to the plan of care within a multidisciplinary team. This role involves providing education and detailed instructions to patients and their responsible parties regarding respiratory disease processes and intervention procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans as needed.
• Provide explanations and instructions to patients and family members to ensure understanding regarding respiratory conditions and treatments.
• Accept reassignment to other units when necessary.
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students, serving as a role model for best practices.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care effectiveness.
• Deliver respiratory care as prescribed by physicians, maintaining effective communication with medical and nursing staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
• Illinois State License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - Medical Response Personnel (NRP-MHC) certification.
