Schedule
3x12 Night shifts with 36 hours guaranteed per week. Travelers may be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the scheduling period.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit provides optimal patient care through comprehensive nursing services. The RN is responsible for individualized patient outcomes over the entire episode of care, focusing on collaboration within a multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment. The role demands diagnosing and treating human responses to health problems, with an emphasis on the cognitive and psychosocial needs of patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients including their families/caregivers.
- Conduct moderately complex assessments and administer moderately intensive therapies and interventions.
- Manage patients with various medical issues, including post ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory conditions.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care, coordinating with other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Demonstrate competency in the use of vasopressors, titratable drips, art lines, neuro stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of Intermediate Care Unit/Stepdown experience required; Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred.
- NV RN license required prior to start.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS (APEX) are mandatory.
- ECG/Telemetry competency exam must be passed, which includes reading/interpreting rhythm strips.
