This position requires 3 12-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with rotating weekends.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) will primarily care for medical neurological patients in a 30-bed unit. The nurse will work alongside a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department, providing monitoring surveillance for patients and ensuring optimal patient care. Experience in Neuro PCU is required, with a focus on conditions such as strokes and acute neurological disorders.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Neuro PCU.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Utilize protocols for managing external CPAP/BiPAP and other respiratory therapies.
- Conduct Yale Swallowing Screen and TR band protocols as necessary.
- Document patient care in the Epic electronic charting system.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory services, and therapy departments.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in Neuro PCU.
- Prior experience in a charge nurse role preferred.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license.
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
