Schedule/Shift
This position requires night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM and includes weekend rotations every other weekend.
Job Description
The Neuro PCU unit focuses on post-operative care for neurological patients, accommodating 8 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4 for PCU assignments. Nurses may float to other medical-surgical areas (5:1 or 6:1 ratios) as necessary. The unit is equipped with GE hardwired monitors and utilizes Meditech as the electronic medical record (EMR) system. The environment promotes teamwork and a collaborative culture, often leading to extended contract opportunities due to the positive work atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage patients’ neurological status and vital signs.
- Administer IV medication drips and perform cardiac monitoring.
- Provide care aligned with ACLS and NIH Stroke protocols.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Required Experience
- Previous experience in a PCU or similar unit.
- Strong nursing assessment and critical thinking skills.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active RN license.
- ACLS certification; NIH Stroke Certification must be obtained by the start date.
