This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

12-hour day shift from 7a-7p with a rotation of every third weekend (approximately 4 weekend shifts per contract). Self-scheduling is utilized on the unit.

Job Description

This position is in a Cardiovascular ICU at Jefferson Abington Hospital, which has 19 beds and an average daily census of approximately 15 patients. The CVICU provides immediate post-operative care for open-heart surgery and high-acuity cardiac critical care. Responsibilities include the management of patients with a range of diagnoses such as post-operative CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm/dissection, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the CVICU.
• Float to MICU or STU/NEU based on facility needs.
• Perform dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• Administer emergency medications and manage cardiac drips.
• Conduct advanced mechanical circulatory support and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Assist in procedures including central venous and arterial line placement.

Required Experience

• 2 years of strong CVICU experience preferred.
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• Proficient in the management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Experience with CABG and post-cardiac surgery management.

Certifications/Licensure

• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Valid Pennsylvania RN licensure is required.
