Schedule/Shift

Rotating shifts from 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist will provide cardiopulmonary services to both inpatients and outpatients at Carlsbad Medical Center. This includes administering respiratory therapies, conducting patient assessments, and managing ventilator settings. The therapist will also perform arterial blood gas punctures, document results, and adhere to safety guidelines throughout all procedures.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy and aerosol treatments.
• Manage ventilator settings and maintain airways to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor responses to respiratory treatments.
• Perform and document arterial blood gas (ABG) punctures accurately.
• Assist physicians with both invasive and non-invasive procedures.
• Deliver medicated aerosols via medical compressed gas.
• Maintain adherence to respiratory protocols and safety guidelines.

Required Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including pediatric and neonate experience.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current RRT or CRT certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current New Mexico state respiratory therapy license.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• NRP certification required before or immediately after starting the position.
