Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through effective diagnosis and treatment. The RN will work closely with individuals and families, serving as advocates in the delivery of patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with UHS Hospitals policy.
- Participate in the Nursing Shared Governance Model and engage in professional development activities.
- Support new employees and students by providing a supportive learning environment.
- Assume Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator responsibilities when assigned.
Required Experience
- Two or more years of clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department setting.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
- BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required.
