Schedule/Shift

Full-Time 3x12s - day or night shift (scheduled as needed by client) + every other weekend, holiday, and 2 on-call shifts in 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families in the Medical-Surgical unit. The RN assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and provides direct care while evaluating patient progress and coordinating care delivery throughout the patient’s episode.

The RN on 2 West cares for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients with various medical conditions, emphasizing patient and family education to support post-discharge self-care and healthy lifestyle changes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care while applying nursing knowledge and skills.
• Assess patient and family needs through active listening and observation.
• Develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans based on patient responses and needs.
• Promote and protect patient health, safety, and rights.
• Educate patients and families about self-care necessary for recovery post-discharge.
• Document patient education and responses accurately.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and engage in professional development.
• Build trusting relationships with patients and families, delivering care in a Healing Environment.
• Administer medications and other interventions competently.

Required Experience

Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical environment.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current New York State RN Licensure.
• BLS Certification (AHA only).
• ACLS Certification (AHA only).
• NIHSS Certification.
