Schedule/Shift

The shift for this position is from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with every other weekend required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care to Emergency Room patients. The nurse will utilize the Nursing Process in accordance with the Alabama Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies and procedures. Critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership are essential in anticipating and planning for the safe delivery of care in the Emergency Department. Ongoing clinical competencies must be maintained through continuing education, and appropriate delegation of patient care priorities is expected based on the education and experience of available staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients in the Emergency Department utilizing the Nursing Process.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and scientific judgment.
• Plan and deliver safe patient care in a dynamic environment.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education.
• Delegate patient care responsibilities according to staff capabilities.
• Supervise and provide direction to assigned personnel in patient care activities.

Required Experience

• 1-2 years of recent Emergency Department experience.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Active Alabama state nursing license with no hits.
