ARMStaffing is looking for a Medical Technologist, Microbiology (Day Shift) in Charleston, South Carolina.

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

This position requires a schedule of 5x8 hours, from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays (currently every 3rd weekend).

Job Description

The Medical Technologist will support high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory, focusing specifically on microbiology. Responsibilities include preparing specimens for testing, performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, executing quality control procedures, troubleshooting errors and laboratory instruments, and ensuring compliance with technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform culture reading, identification, and susceptibility testing.
• Conduct Gram stain reading and plating.
• Set up rapid molecular testing, including BioFire Torch panels and Cepheid assays.
• Communicate technical information to medical personnel and assist with training in routine procedures.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain quality assurance practices.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
• Experience in microbiology, including Gram staining and plating.
• Proficiency in culture reading and susceptibility testing.

Certifications/Licensure

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical/scientific discipline is required.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent is required.
