Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

The schedule for this position includes 12-hour night shifts from 1800 to 0600. A 4-week schedule requires sign-up for every other weekend or two weekends per month, with holiday coverage required. Requests for time off must be pre-approved.

Job Description

The 2 North Med-Surg unit at Methodist Hill Country is comprised of 24 beds with a dedicated team of 36 staff members. The unit focuses on telemetry and postoperative care, providing comprehensive treatment for patients requiring monitoring and recovery after surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily weights and vital signs monitoring.
• Manage intake and output documentation.
• Conduct hourly rounding and bedside report.
• Administer cardiac and heparin infusions.
• Provide wound care, including the use of KCI and Prevena wound vacs.
• Start IVs and care for NG tubes and Foley catheters.
• Discharge and admit patients as required.

Required Experience

• Telemetry experience is mandatory.
• Postoperative care experience is also required.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• PALS and NIH certifications are preferred.
