Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and managing patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining purpose and procedures of treatments and equipment to patients, and providing education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
• Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays and assist with related procedures.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor test results efficiently.
• Carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of treatments and patient responses.
• Communicate with attending physicians regarding therapy efficiency and report essential information during shift transitions.

Required Experience

Experience in intensive respiratory care is preferred.

Certifications / Licensure

Must hold a valid Respiratory Therapist license and appropriate certifications in BLS and ACLS.
