Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. This role emphasizes patient and employee safety, ensuring adherence to safety policies, identifying workplace hazards, and promoting safe practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop an individualized care plan.
• Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Communicate patient information succinctly and accurately during team conferences.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, prioritizing patient education based on identified needs.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Ensure continuity of care through effective communication regarding changes in patient status.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
• Contribute positively to unit dynamics and participate in team building activities.
• Maintain effective communication with management regarding service needs and clinical training.
• Assume charge responsibilities following the orientation period as needed.

Required Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience.

Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
