Respiratory Therapist - 13 Week Contract

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients while providing necessary education upon discharge. Responsibilities include conducting physician-prescribed treatments, operating various ventilatory and aerosol devices, and ensuring optimal patient care within the scope of professional licensure with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine treatments using various ventilatory equipment and delivery devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods.
• Monitor patient's oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays for further evaluation and perform 12-Lead EKG.
• Assist in procedures related to respiratory care as per protocol.
• Document all treatment information and patient responses accurately in records.
• Maintain communication with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficacy.
• Facilitate preventive maintenance and repairs of respiratory equipment.
• Perform CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Schedule

This position requires a day shift consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week.
