Radiation Therapist - Day Shift

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiation oncologist, the Radiation Therapist delivers radiation treatments to patients as prescribed and obtains localization images according to the planned treatment delivery. This role includes assisting physicians or nurses in the administration of contrast agents used during treatment localization and performing measurements for treatment calculations.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatment, simulation, fabrication of immobilization devices and shielding, radiosurgery, and brachytherapy procedures when applicable.
• Collect and document data acquired during the simulation procedure, accurately inputting treatment-related data.
• Ensure safety in patient care through adherence to departmental procedures for treatment administration.
• Recognize and report deviations from prescribed treatment delivery to the Chief Therapist or Physicist.
• Ensure the quality of treatment delivery through complete and accurate documentation of treatment records.
• Take portal images according to departmental procedures to assure quality and consistency of treatment portal placement.
• Effectively explain treatment procedures to patients and/or family members, addressing any concerns accordingly.
• Observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions to treatments and communicate findings to relevant staff.
• Maintain a safe and orderly treatment room, ensuring proficiency in all necessary information systems and computer applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned and in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program in a JRCERT-accredited institution.
• 2 years of experience required.
• ARRT Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Compliance with state-specific Acts (PA Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, Act 73).

Schedule

This position is for a Day Shift, 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week.
