Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift 4x12.0

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The role requires evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers for medication delivery, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays to determine further evaluation needs.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care-related procedures.
• Perform tracheostomy care, including the insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
• Conduct arterial punctures and determine ventilation efficiency while monitoring, recording, and reporting test results.
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation on various types of equipment.
• Record pertinent information on treatments and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Communicate efficiently with the attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficacy.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and verify data entry accuracy.

Schedule

This position operates on a night shift schedule, specifically 4 days on and 12 hours per shift.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
