Professional Staff Nurse - Night Shift

Job Description

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of nursing care. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision while managing patient care activities for a group of patients and their families. This position requires independent judgment, effective communication, and collaborative practice with all team members to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

Responsibilities

• Participate actively in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts and take responsibility for improving patient satisfaction.
• Utilize research and evidence-based practice to support clinical care improvement, discussing opportunities during multidisciplinary rounds.
• Apply the nursing process to create a healing environment, formulating patient goals and care plans that consider individual needs in a holistic manner.
• Communicate effectively, documenting patient information comprehensively to promote caregiver collaboration.
• Serve as an engaged partner on the care team, responding to team members' needs and participating in improving the professional practice environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles when teaching patients and families, ensuring proper guidance throughout care transitions.
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues and patients, demonstrating accountability and understanding of cultural differences.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) license is required; BSN preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, PA Act 73.

Schedule

This position is a Night Shift, working 12-hour shifts for 3 days a week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
