Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and transporting patients into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. They evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans, while explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, along with providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct various physician-prescribed treatments utilizing ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, as well as oxygen and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy, and review patient's chest x-rays to determine need for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Provide tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes (emergent and non-emergent).
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency, recording and reporting test results.
• Adhere to all policies related to laboratory testing, including specimen handling and quality control.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging including data entry and error correction.

Schedule

This position follows a Night 3x12.0 schedule.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must possess the appropriate licensure and certifications relevant to the position of Respiratory Therapist.
