Day Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday (3x12 hours)

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, including intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending appropriate treatment plans, explaining procedures and equipment to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation as prescribed.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by multiple methods.
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies as needed.
• Assist with procedures relating to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Provide tracheostomy care and arterial punctures following established policies.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain mechanical ventilation and perform equipment maintenance as necessary.
• Document and communicate relevant patient information to healthcare teams.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Current state licensure and relevant certifications in respiratory therapy are required.
