Computed Tomography Technologist - Night Shift

Job Description

The Computed Tomography Technologist independently performs a variety of imaging procedures that require judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This role is essential in utilizing complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration.
• Adjust protocols requiring independent judgment and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
• Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and use of power injector according to established protocols.
• Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to administration.
• Interact effectively with patients and co-workers, displaying high levels of caring, dignity, and respect.
• Communicate instructions to patients clearly to help allay fears and solicit cooperation.
• Identify all patients properly using two identifiers and utilize universal protocol during procedures.
• Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results.
• Document patient history in electronic records as required.
• Ensure all exams are properly coded, tracked, and archived for interpretation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
• CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire.
• 2 years of experience is required.
• ARRT Certificate, Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC), Basic Life Support (BLS), and PA Acts 31, 33, 34, and 73 are required.

Schedule

This position operates on a night shift schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
