Computed Tomography (CT) Technician - Afternoons

Job Description

The CT Technician coordinates and participates in all computerized tomography scanning procedures. This role involves setting up, monitoring, and operating complex computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor the computer operation of CT equipment for patients.
• Transfer and position patients using accepted safety and proper lifting techniques.
• Prepare and inject contrast media intravenously as needed for examinations.
• Make and develop images for permanent files and record all studies on magnetic tape.
• Organize daily patient schedules in cooperation with the work-room technician.
• Maintain image quality and perform daily calibration and quality control of equipment.
• Handle electronic/digital image capture, storage, transfer, and copies.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions and assist with emergency medical situations.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations set forth by the Michigan Department of Public Health.
• Maintain cleanliness of the working environment and assurance of supply levels.
• Instruct new personnel as necessary and assist Radiologists with specialized radiological procedures.
• Review and record pertinent patient history to aid Radiologists in diagnoses.
• Participate in departmental quality assessments and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of X-ray or CT experience required.
• Traveler experience is preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ARRT certification required.
• Michigan state licensure is required for practice.

Schedule

This position is for the afternoon shift, working 8-hour shifts with a guaranteed workload of 40 hours per week.
