Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist

Job Description

The CT Technologist coordinates and participates in all computerized tomography scanning procedures, setting up, monitoring, and operating complex computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor the computer operation of C.T. equipment per patient, ensuring safety and proper lifting techniques.
• Provide required patient identification and obtain vital information concerning known allergies and pertinent medical history.
• Prepare and inject contrast media intravenously when necessary, following radiologist protocols.
• Make and develop images for permanent files, recording all studies for future reference.
• Organize daily patient schedules in cooperation with work-room technicians.
• Maintain image quality and perform daily calibration and quality control of equipment.
• Responsible for electronic/digital image capture, storage, transfer, and copying.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions, assist with emergency medical situations, and provide basic CPR when needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations as prescribed.
• Maintain a clean working environment and assure appropriate inventory levels of supplies.
• Instruct new personnel and assist radiologists and other physician specialists with specialized procedures.
• Review and record pertinent patient history to aid in diagnosis.
• Participate in departmental quality assessments and improvement opportunities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ Years of CT Experience (Required)
• Phillips Experience (Required)
• Traveler Experience (Preferred)
• Certifications: BLS, ARRT
• Michigan license verification required for nurses; necessary documentation must be provided if applicable.

Schedule

This is a night shift position consisting of 12-hour shifts with a potential for weekend duty, requiring availability to work one weekend a month.
