Job Description

The Step-Down Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care for patients recovering from critical conditions or surgeries. The RN will manage and monitor patients with conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure, respiratory failure, and cardiac dysrhythmias while performing essential nursing duties in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment and continuous monitoring of patients in the step-down unit.
• Perform medication administration and maintain accurate medication records.
• Utilize cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Administer blood products and manage IV lines, including PICC line management.
• Perform post-procedural care and frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks.
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and post-discharge care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of recent Step-Down experience.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• NIHSS certification required.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry and respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP).
