Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN)

This is a 13-week contract position, working 3x12-hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:15.

Job Description

The Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care for patients on an orthopedic and spine unit that also manages medical overflow. The RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment while adhering to the best practices and protocols in orthopedic nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care on an orthopedic and spine unit, with a focus on managing orthopedic trauma.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including blood product administration and IV insulin protocols.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to emergencies, utilizing rapid response and code teams as needed.
• Assist in the management of patients with dysrhythmias and other complex medical issues.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy.
• Engage in wound care, including the management of surgical drains and use of wound vacs.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with a focus on orthopedic nursing preferred.
• BLS certification is required; NIHSS certification preferred.
• Must hold a valid RN license in Oklahoma or have a compact license.
• Prior charge nurse experience is a plus.
• Traveler must be willing to float within nursing scope as necessary.
