Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

This position is for night shifts, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, requiring every other weekend availability.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide care within a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting, managing patients requiring intermediate care. Nurses will engage in critical thinking and utilize advanced skills to monitor patient conditions and respond effectively to changes in status.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights.
• Administer medications and IV therapies, including cardiac drips, insulin, and heparin drips.
• Utilize various medical equipment such as bipaps, high flow oxygen, and wound vacs.
• Perform procedures including peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, and central line dressing changes.
• Engage in effective communication with patients, staff, and families to maintain a high standard of care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Demonstrated experience with EKG rhythm interpretation and cardiac care.
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis and administration of tube feedings.
• Peripheral IV skills and experience working with stroke and post-cardiac catheterization patients are essential.
