Registered Respiratory Therapist - Rotating Shift

Job Description

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Duties include assessing patient conditions, administering therapies, and collaborating with healthcare teams across various patient populations and service areas.

Responsibilities

• Read prescriptions and assess patient conditions to determine therapy requirements.
• Determine suitable methods for administering inhalants according to physician's orders.
• Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring specified treatment parameters.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust treatments as necessary.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist with breathing exercises.
• Conduct pulmonary function tests for diagnostic purposes.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate with physicians regarding care.
• Transport mechanically ventilated patients and respond to code situations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned in accordance with system-wide competencies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory program required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) certification required.
• NRP certification may be required for certain facilities.
• State Licenses must be maintained as per PA regulations (Act 31, 33, 34, 73).

Schedule

This position involves a rotating shift schedule of 12 hours over 3 days per week.

Assignment Duration

This is a contract position guaranteed for 13 weeks.
