Operating Room Nurse - Endoscopy/Orthopedic/General

Job Description

The Operating Room Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient in the operating room. As a member of the surgical team, the RN works with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, ORT s, and other personnel to provide patient care according to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN, regulatory standards, physician orders, and hospital policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring supplies and timeliness of cases
• Communicating with families
• Updating physician preference cards
• Scrubbing and assisting physicians during surgical cases
• Supervising personnel delivering patient care

Schedule

This position offers a schedule of Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. In addition, call is required 7 days per month, including one weekend.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have ACLS, BLS & PALS certifications (must be through the American Heart Association)
• Must have Alabama RN or multi-state RN license
• Must have 4 years of recent OR RN experience in a hospital setting
• Experience as OR Circulator with Endoscopy experience
• Experience in Endoscopy/Orthopedic/General required; preference for ENT/GYN experience
