This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
40 hours per week with shifts consisting of 2x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and 2x8 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) with varying days from Monday to Friday and every Saturday and Sunday required.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room plays a vital role in providing safe, age-appropriate patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. This position requires proficiency in a variety of surgical specialties, teamwork in interdisciplinary settings, and the capability to support advanced surgical technology and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one patient care in the operating room.
- Support and assist in various surgical procedures including trauma, ENT, colorectal, plastics, neurosurgery, and other specializations.
- Contribute to a high-volume surgical team with an average of 40 cases per day.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and patient protocols.
- Act as a resource for patients and their families regarding care procedures and surgical technology.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Two years of Operating Room experience is required.
- Level II trauma experience is required; Level I trauma experience is preferred.
- Maryland or compact RN license required upon submission.
- BLS certification is required; ACLS, NIH, and PALS certifications are preferred.
- Completion of a 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course and 8 hours of annual trauma CEUs are required.
- General OR and trauma experience with proficiency in various surgical procedures is essential.
