Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in a Medical-Surgical setting practices independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The RN provides routine and complex care, focused on long-range goals and contingency management. This role requires effective delegation and management of clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Meets the expectations of One CHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Utilizes the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol; monitors side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only).
• Active RN License in the state of Texas or compact state.

Schedule

This position is a full-time night shift role, from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
