Central Sterile Technician

Schedule

12pm - 8:30pm, with call/lates and weekend requirements (1 need)
3pm - 11pm, with call/lates and weekend requirements (2 needs)

Job Description

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and other medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s Instructions For Use (IFU). This role requires effective communication to meet instrument and supply needs in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment following IFUs.
• Inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes medical devices according to IFUs.
• Operates automated washers, ultrasonic cleaners, cart washers, and sterilizers per manufacturer instructions.
• Inspects surgical instrumentation during tray assembly to ensure proper functioning and cleanliness.
• Pulls surgical case carts for add-ons and/or emergency cases.
• Maintains effective communication with staff to facilitate instrument and supply needs.
• Completes daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of department areas and signs off on cleaning logs.
• Performs additional duties as required to support department and hospital operations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of Central Sterile/Sterile Processing experience required.
• Prior travel experience is required.
• CBSPD or HSPA certification is required.
• BLS certification is required.
