Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Rotating shifts including 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour schedules, primarily during the day (07:00 - 19:30) and mid shifts (11:00 - 23:30). Weekends and holidays are required as scheduled.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care for patients across all age ranges from infants to geriatrics. The primary need is for day shifts, though mid shifts will also be part of the rotation based on departmental needs. The RN will float within the specialty and sister facilities as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments and triage patients in the emergency department.
• Administer medications and treatments as per protocols.
• Manage and care for complex cases, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.
• Maintain the integrity of patient records and documentation using the Epic charting system.
• Respond effectively to emergencies while demonstrating clinical knowledge and skills.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing.
• Current RN license valid in the state of Maryland or compact state.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI (to be completed during onboarding).
• Experience in ED settings and proficiency in charting using Epic.
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:4 (up to 5 with lower acuity).
