Surgical Technologist

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for assisting in various surgical procedures under the supervision of professional nurses. This position requires anticipating the needs of the surgeon, setting up sterile environments, and ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and sterile.

Responsibilities

• Scrub in on surgical procedures while anticipating the surgeon's preferences for materials and instruments.
• Set up sterile tables with required instruments, supplies, and medications for surgical procedures.
• Prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and ensure sterility of materials used.
• Monitor and inventory surgical supplies, ordering as necessary to maintain available stock.
• Develop and implement educational programs and learning aids for the department.
• Participate in committees and provide input regarding policies and procedures.
• Be available for on-call or emergency cases that may require additional surgical technicians.
• Perform back-up duties for emergency cases requiring surgical assistance.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of a surgical technologist training program accredited by a recognized agency.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) and current BLS certification.
• At least 1 year of experience in a surgical setting.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, and sterile techniques.

Schedule

This position follows a day shift schedule, Tuesday through Friday, with 10-hour workdays. On-call duties are also required.
