SDS Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre-Op and Phase 2 Recovery

Schedule

This position involves 5 × 8-hour shifts per week, totaling 40 hours. Shift times include 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, and 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM. Weekend call is required with 24-hour coverage from 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

Job Description

The SDS RN is responsible for the pre-operative phase of care for surgical patients, which includes verifying consents and assessing patients, including medication reviews. The SDS RN will also handle Phase 2 post-operative care for patients.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient consents and conduct assessments prior to surgery.
• Review patient medications and medical histories.
• Provide Phase 2 post-operative care and monitoring of surgical patients.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Support PACU RN as needed and provide assistance within the unit.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 5 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Current RN licensure is required.
• Experience with IV insertion and EPIC Optime.
• Perioperative experience, particularly in pre-op and Phase 2 recovery.
• Specific skills with bladder scanners, EKGs, glucometers, and pneumatic devices.
