Job Description
The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. They demonstrate performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization, and they treat staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Reassess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
- Develop and implement measurable individualized plans of care for patients within the established timeframe.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes.
- Participate in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
- Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Evaluate the plan of care.
- Perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications via AHA required.
- Knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
- All newly hired nurses with two or less years of experience as a Registered Nurse will be hired in at a CNI status.
- Can be considered for a higher clinical ladder level based on relevant experience, national professional nursing certification, or additional nursing education (B.S.N. or MSN).
