Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Post Partum Unit provides care for women of childbearing age and their newborns. This position requires the ability to recognize unit workflow, policies, and procedures within the postpartum unit, as well as assessing and identifying risk factors related to various conditions. The RN will also provide discharge education and assessments, manage pain, prioritize patient care needs, and utilize AIDET and BSSR methodologies to ensure excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver personalized care to postpartum patients and newborns.
• Assess and identify risk factors related to sepsis, VTE/DVT, and other conditions.
• Provide education to patients regarding discharge processes and management of care.
• Utilize equipment such as vitals machines and glucometers.
• Collaborate with nursing colleagues to ensure quality patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications.
• Previous experience in a postpartum or similar nursing environment is preferred.
