Job Description
The Occupational Therapist effectively screens and evaluates patients with cognitive and/or activities of daily living (ADL) physical functioning disorders. The therapist develops appropriate plans of care that adhere to regulatory and clinical practice standards. Utilizing standardized assessments and evidence-based practices, the therapist provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to eligible patients. This role also involves administering various therapeutic procedures as part of the rehabilitation plan.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients' cognitive and ADL physical functioning disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical evaluations.
- Provide various rehabilitative treatments, including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, and modalities.
- Adjust treatment plans according to patient progress and document findings in the electronic documentation system.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding treatment progress and barriers.
- Document all regulatory and clinically required information, maintaining patient records according to company policy.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and facility trainings.
- Supervise and support occupational therapist assistants and rehabilitation aides.
- Adhere to professional ethics and conduct standards as mandated by NBCOT and state regulations.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 1+ years of Occupational Therapy experience required.
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings required.
- Active Occupational Therapy license required at the time of submission.
- New graduates considered with Level II fieldwork experience.
