Job Description

The Radiation Therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist, following the guidelines established by the New York State Department of Health. This role requires the safe and accurate operation of high voltage machinery, along with effective communication regarding any equipment malfunctions.

Responsibilities

• Administer radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist.
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record.
• Interpret computerized treatment plans and observe patients for adverse reactions.
• Report any adverse reactions to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or Radiation Oncologist immediately.
• Facilitate problem-solving regarding technical issues related to radiation therapy.
• Act professionally and responsibly to ensure patient welfare at all times.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols as mandated by the NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York State (proof of application required).
• ARRT certification is required.
• Completion of a Radiation Therapy Technology program from an AMA approved school.
