Job Description

Under the general direction of a physician and the department supervisor, the Ultrasound Technologist performs complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures. The technologist must possess expertise in at least two areas such as Cardiac, Vascular, or General Ultrasound, following established protocols and care standards to assure improved patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform various diagnostic ultrasound procedures per protocol to assist in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and requirements, including those set forth by Federal and State regulations, the Joint Commission, and relevant accreditation bodies.
• Review ultrasound images for identification, technique, and completeness.
• Provide training and mentorship for new department staff members and sonography students.
• Maintain equipment and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols.
• Participate in the accreditation and re-accreditation process for respective modalities.
• Engage in continuous education and stay current with technological advances within the imaging field.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of two years clinical experience in ultrasound/specialized imaging areas; experience in OBGYN and breast is preferred.
• Must hold ARMDS and American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) certification.
• CPR certification upon hire and AHA BLS within 60 days of hire.
