Radiologic Technologist

Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist administers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients, operating X-ray equipment, developing files, and preparing patient's rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications. This role involves providing patient services using imaging modalities, while following prescribed techniques for administering general and specific X-rays.

Responsibilities

• Adjust and operate X-ray equipment, determining proper voltage, current, and exposure time.
• Arrange immobilization and support devices to obtain required patient positioning.
• Prepare barium preparation and other chemical mixtures for X-ray procedures.
• Observe patients and machines during procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences.
• Develop X-ray films in accordance with established photographic techniques.
• Cleans and disinfects X-ray room and equipment following procedures.
• Explain procedures to patients and their families, providing assistance throughout the examination.
• Maintain stock supplies and perform general office duties, including writing reports.
• Take mobile X-ray units to patient rooms and transport patients as required.
• Inspect emergency trays and maintain radiographic technique charts.
• Provide formal and informal education based on identified staff or peer needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Must have RD ARRT certification.
• Must possess a valid IL Radiology Tech license.
• Familiarity with GE X-ray equipment, including both main department and portable units, is required.

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position, with shifts from 07:00 to 19:00.
