Job Description
Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Director, the Physical Therapist is responsible for administering physical therapy to patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric ages. The aim of therapy is to enhance the patient’s functional abilities.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and evaluate test results to inform treatment plans in collaboration with physicians or by prescription.
- Implement treatment plans through manual exercises, functional activities, and educational support regarding assistive devices.
- Administer a variety of physical therapy treatments including massages, traction, hydrotherapy, and the use of ultrasound machines.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans and devices.
- Participate in discharge planning with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care post-discharge.
- Design home exercise programs and instruct patients, families, and caregivers accordingly.
- Maintain documentation of patient care services in compliance with departmental records.
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to infection-control protocols and maintaining equipment functionality.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in the field.
- Contribute to the development of therapy staff by facilitating training and providing resource information.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Possession of a Physical Therapy License issued by the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- BLS certification required.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for physical and mental dysfunction diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Understanding of human behavior, individual differences, and customer service best practices.
- Familiarity with curriculum and training design methodologies.
