Registered Nurse - Surgical Day Care

Schedule

24-Hour, Day/Evening shifts, consisting of three 8-hour shifts, with on-call responsibilities during weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, adhering to established policies and protocols. The RN will deliver individualized patient care, maintaining patient dignity and self-regard, while also offering education and preparing patients and families for discharge.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and document nursing interventions and patient responses.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education based on identified needs.
• Plan discharge while incorporating necessary support systems and resources.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions as appropriate.
• Prioritize patient care and seek assistance from resources as needed.
• Document all relevant patient information and therapeutic interventions thoroughly.
• Provide post-operative follow-up care through phone calls to patients.
• Administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with protocols.
• Perform pre-admission assessments and coordinate ancillary testing.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• A minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience is required.
• Experience in Surgical Day Care (SDC), Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Endoscopy, or Operating Room (OR) is preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required.
• IV certification preferred.
