Job Description

The Consulting RN is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in the Consulting department across various specialties, including Neuro, ENT, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Cardiac, and Urology. The role requires initiative, flexibility, and a professional standard of care with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate assessments and coordinate interdisciplinary screenings and assessments.
• Explain specialty procedures to patients and families; assist physicians with procedures.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and follow-up instructions.
• Administer medications based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Maintain knowledge of cardiac monitoring systems and dysrhythmia identification.
• Document patient medical histories and maintain thorough medical records.
• Utilize established hand-off communication protocols to ensure patient safety.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and ensure a safe environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Illinois RN License required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse; critical care or cardiac care preferred.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs.
